The Sion Grail appeals to the mind and is a reading pleasure. Maggie's story of her search for her ancestors and eventually the Sion Grail begins in Paris at Hercule St Claire's antiquities shop. The shop specializes in antiquities before the 14th century "especially those brought to Europe during the various crusades". Hercule may have an old chalice brought to Europe by the Knights of Malta in the 14th century. Since that time it has been in the secret possession of the Paris St Claire Priory. Later, the grail stolen from Hercule's shop, propels the story forward and the pace quickens. Maggie with friends in tow pursues. The story has a very satisfying spiritual and ancestral conclusion.

Historical sources support a startling discovery. Mary Magdalen and Jesus were a spiritual partnership. Jesus considered Mary to be a disciple and the thirteenth apostle. Later, apostles, church fathers and popes wrote Mary's original role out of the Christian narrative.

An excellent read!

The Sion Grail Janet Kramer 9781456809775 Books Reviews

Janet Kramer is an extremely gifted writer whose talent for character development is
extraordinary. You will like Maggie Forsythe from the moment you meet her at the Charles de Gaulle
airport in Paris. You will follow her on her journey of self-discovery through-out France. You will travel with her as she discovers her ancestral past and the unique responsibility carried by her family name. The Knights Templar, the Holy Grail, Arc of the Covenant, the Prieure de Sion. It was the revelations of these, as well as Maggie's contemporary search for her past that held my interest in THE SION GRAIL
I won't show up as a verified purchaser since I purchased my paperback edition directly from the author. My initial reaction to the book's presentation is that it is a first class quality paperback with a beautiful cover with quality printing on decent paper. After reading the blurb, I remarked that the book must have required a lot of research, and Janet Kramer agreed that it did. I've read it through twice now and I am very happy to report that it is as entertaining as it is thought provoking. Everything about this novel is so good. I spotted no typos, for example- which is rare for me. The characters feel so real, I feel I can see them and know them-like them. Having read Dan Brown's DaVinci Code and seen the movie, I think Kramer's Sion Grail is far more appealing. The author told me that The DaVinci Code was published just as she was ready to publish, so she held it back to avoid the appearance of riding on Mr. Brown's notoriety and success. I can't speak to the accuracy of the history as it is presented but, if accurate, Janet did do a lot of research to bring this story to the world. I encourage everyone to buy this book. There is adventure, romance, intrigue, and danger and it is easy to read. I can't imagine anyone taking offense with any aspect of this book, with the possible exception of Bible literalists who are unfamiliar with the Apocrypha and I suppose also those who object to the slightest hint of strong language, characters who have sex outside of marriage, and who refuse to acknowledge that gays exist in this world. Although there is a romantic scene, it was handled with taste and decorum. Although I am not offended by strong language, what little there is, is G rated, and often in French. I agree with another reviewer that far too many long phrases are in French and if you've had no high school French, you will lose a lot because there are too few explanations or translations. Keep your internet translator handy and soon you won't need it because you'll begin to recognize the similarity of key words to English or Church Latin.
This novel is excellently written and well researched. The plot is fast moving and absorbing and the characters are well drawn. I have had many compliments on this book and many have asked me to write a sequel.
Maggie Forsythe's drive to search for her namesake takes her on an intriguing journey through the French countryside. This fast-paced novel, with a strong mystery/romance plot, is well researched by a talented writer. I thoroughly enjoyed the novel
I thoroughly enjoyed the story, set in Paris. The author grabbed by attention in the very first chapter and kept it throughout the book. Having just completed a book where I had to add punctuation to comprehend complex sentences, I enjoyed the author's clear, concise writing. Her plot took many twists and turns with surprises at the end. Her characters were well defined. Having never studied French, I did wish she had not used French phases without hints as to their meaning. Her descriptions of Paris streets, restaurants and food seemed to indicate a good knowledge of the city.
